Delivery: approx. 4-6 weeks from order confirmation (subject to confirmation)
Pro-installation Information
Delivery & Professional Installation is available within a 25 mile radius of our Henley-in-Arden Showsite within the B, CV and WR postcode areas only. For Orders outside of this area, please contact us for a Quotation.
Pro-installations only include the erection of the building (not the base).
We will contact you to arrange a convenient date and time for the installation – this may be on a separate date to that of the delivery, although in most cases installation will be carried out on the same day as delivery.
All garden buildings are delivered on a flat bed vehicle. Once you have agreed a specific delivery date, please ensure that someone is in attendance at the property to enable access; advise where the building is to be installed; and to sign for receipt of the goods and satisfactory installation.
Please note that we deliver and install Monday to Friday within normal working hours only. We are unable to deliver on a Saturday or Sunday.
The installers should be able to use a short and easily accessible route to take the building from where it has been placed at the kerbside delivery to where it is required to be installed. This includes ensuring there are no obstacles such as narrow pathways or archways. If the access route from kerbside to base is particularly long or difficult to manoeuvre, you may be required to move the building into position yourself before the installers arrive - please clarify this in advance with us to avoid the possibility of a re-visit charge having to be applied.
Please let us know of any restrictions at the time of ordering. We may be able to manufacture in sections so that the building will fit through the available access - although there will be an additional charge for this service (see the 'restricted access' option in the pricing section above).
Please note that a power supply should be made available.
Base
All base work is the responsibility of the customer together with the safe securing of the building once erected. The base must be firm, level and square to ensure timber stability. If required, we can recommend one of our local approved base layers for installations within the B, CV and WR postcode areas.
Please note: We reserve the right not to install the building if the base is considered unsuitable on the delivery date and there will be a re-visit charge for the installation.
A Firm and Level base must be in place before installation can take place. For this we suggest the following:
a) solid concrete slab (minimum 100mm) on compacted hardcore
b) concrete slabs on compacted hardcore
c) timber decking
Failure to provide a suitable base (in the opinion of the professional installation team), will result in the installation being aborted and a re-visit charge will be payable should another appointment need to be made.
It is also essential that the base where the building is required to be installed take is clear and easily accessible with sufficient working space around all sides before the install team arrives.
Under no circumstance can we lift building sections over walls, garage roofs or hedges, etc
Although we always take the greatest of care, Heart of England Garden Buildings accepts no responsibility for any damage caused to owners property, either internally or externally, during transportation and erection of buildings.
Please see our terms and conditions for more details.
Treatment and Maintenance of your Garden Building
The performance and lifespan of your garden building is entirely dependent on how you treat and maintain the building. Timber is an organic product and as such it is subject to naturally occurring changes due to different environmental conditions.
Taking a small amount of time throughout the year to look after the building and tend to any repairs before they become more serious is important. As with all wooden structures, the key to maintaining the building is to ensure it remains on a firm and level base and is protected against moisture penetration.
Treat the building regularly
Every new building is supplied with the factory dipped, water-based anti-fungicide preservative basecoat as standard. However we strongly recommend the building is also treated immediately after installation with a coat of spirit-based water-resistant timber preservative as a top coat. We offer this brushed application as a factory option prior to delivery in either Dark or Golden Oak. Please see the pricing options list above for this small additional cost.
You should repeat this treatment at least annually and ideally we recommend during both early spring and late autumn, with care being taken to brush the treatment into all wooden components of the building. It is very important that no bare timber is left exposed, including the tops and bottoms of the doors and windows. Small cracks and knotholes should be filled with good quality brown silicone mastic.
Additional weather-proofing
In exposed locations we suggest you increase weather-proofing by adding a silicone seal to all corner joints and around the windows and doors, ensuring that all of the joints and edges are filled, leaving no bare timber.
Painted buildings
We recommend Cuprinol, Sadolin or Sikkens outdoor products. Please follow the manufacturers instructions and ask your local decorators merchant for any advice.
Seal the windows
For supply-only buildings such as our internet only Classic Range, it is essential that all windows are sealed inside and out as soon as possible after erection. This can be achieved by the application of silicone, timber beading or any other suitable ‘water tight’ solution to suit your preference.
Ensure nothing is in contact with your building
Any overhanging tree or hedge growth poses a threat to your garden building and should be cut back at regular intervals. If a tree branch makes contact with your building it may pierce the roofing material and encourage water ingress.
Check and replace any damaged roof felt
If you do find any damage sustained to your roofing felt over time, it is essential that you act upon this without delay. Should you discover a rip or tear in the felt we firmly recommend the whole area is stripped from the roof and a new covering of high grade, heavy duty, mineral felt is affixed immediately (available online or DIY stores)
Check your base
You should have already ensured the base was perfectly level prior to assembly and it is important to continually monitor the condition. Any movement of the base under the building can lead to twisting of the timber and dropping of the doors.
Lubrication and adjustment
All hinges and handles should be regularly lubricated with suitable oil to ensure continued ease of use. To adjust doors and windows, simply unscrew the hinges and realign them as necessary or pack under the building bearers to square up doorway.
